Danny is in the US PGA Championship!

Danny's Diary
I'm in! It's hard to explain just how happy I was to receive my invite for the US PGA Championship. It has been a dream of mine ever since I started out playing golf as a kid to get to tee up in a Major and I'm going to do it at last. After the disappointment of failing to get into The Open this is just the tonic.
Invites for the US PGA - which starts on August 12 at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin - go to the World's top 100 and I was ranked 84th before The Open and last week's Scandinavian Masters where I annoyingly missed the cut so I was getting a little bit anxious.
As it turned out I only dropped down to 85th despite failing to score points in either tournament. It sounds like I'm not in the best of form but actually it's not that bad. My game only needs a little tweak here and there and I'm confident I can do well once I get out to America. I've been looking at the course on the internet and it looks like a classic links, even though it's on the side of a lake - Lake Michigan - rather than the sea.
I will be working hard with my coach Graham to get my game in order before we fly out together along with my agent Alex. The key is to try and treat it like any other tournament but that is going to be hard because deep down you know it's different. If you win or finish top ten it can take your career to a new level which is what I'm looking to do.
Apart from the fact I've not won an event, I'm not in bad shape at this stage of the season. I've played 16 events, I'm in the top 30 in the Race to Dubai rankings and should be safely into the Dubai World Championship at the end of the season. Now I'm testing myself on the biggest stage of them all in The States. This is what it's all about.
