Read the latest from Danny's exclusive diary by Shaun Custis of The Sun newspaper.
I don't know what it is about Loch Lomond but I just can't do well there. In the last three years I've missed the cut twice and finished 34th. Yet the previous week in France, for the same three years, I've been 11th, 10th and 5th. Next year I'm determined to be qualified for The Open before the Scottish comes up and I can give it a swerve.
I actually got up to 3rd reserve for St Andrews but I would have needed a few to go down with food poisoning overnight for me to get into the tournament.
Although I was reduced to watching The Open on the telly and still haven't played a major yet, I'm up to 84th in the world now and in with a good chance of getting into the USPGA which invites the world's top 100.
I will be having an anxious look at my position after The Open before I go onto Sweden for my next tournament to see where I stand but I'm increasingly hopeful that I will make it to Wisconsin. For more info on Danny please visit www.dannywillett.co.uk
