Danny's Diary
I feel like my first European Tour victory has got to come soon. I'm knocking on the door and was only three shots off the winning score at the French Open last week. I'm playing beautifully right now and if I can just get a little break where a long putt drops at a big moment on the last day I could crack it.
I was two off the lead going into the back nine on Sunday but missed chances at five holes in a row. I wouldn't say my putting was poor because I holed everything from six feet and in last week but getting those 15 footers to disappear would be nice.
I've moved up to 24th in the Race to Dubai rankings and I'm also 89th in the world which is important because if I can stay inside the top 100 I will qualify for the USPGA which would be my first major.
There is still a possibility of getting into The Open though with a good performance in Loch Lomond this week.
You have to be in the top five at the Scottish Open and the leading player not to have otherwise qualified to make it to St Andrews. That is a tall order but I would have got the spot in France had Alejandro Canizares not been in the top five as well. That was a bit annoying but if I can keep playing as well as I am maybe it won't matter.
I've also got half-an-eye on the Ryder Cup. I know I'm a long way off getting into Colin Montgomerie's team but if I could get a Tour victory who knows. At the start of the season it was only a passing thought yet the closer it gets and the better I play the more I start to think about it.
Firstly though I want to give it a good go in Scotland and see what happens. When you're in good form like I am, you have to make the most of it.
